Greensboro, GA (PPG) -- The Inaugural Big Break Invitational starts today at the Reynolds Plantation Great Waters Course with 20 men and 20 women from past seasons competing for $300,000, with the winner taking home a $100,000 check. Past Big Break contestants have had great success furthering their golf careers with a few of the men playing on the PGA and Web.com Tours, while some of the girls earning status on the LPGA and Symetra Tours.

As you would expect from the creators of the Big Break TV series, this is not your normal stroke play or match play event.  The men and women will compete separately the first three days that includes two days of stableford with a cut to twelve men and twelve women.  Then a one day match play competition, six men vs six men and six women vs six women, with the winners advancing to the final day. The event concludes with a stroke play competition for the final twelve contestants, six men and six women, battling it out for the the single champion of The Big Break Invitational.

The players are all raving about the course layout and the lightning quick greens. Great Waters opted for the new MiniVerde Bermuda Greens a few years back which gives the course more days per year of perfect putting surfaces. With nine of the last ten holes along Lake Oconee, it is one of the most memorable courses in the southeast and is the perfect test to crown the Inaugural Big Break Invitational Champion.

Tour Qualifying Season

Qualifying Schools are under way in both the United States for the Web.com Tour and across the Pond for the European Tour.  Fall is the most important time for players with questionable status or no status at all.  Q-School can only be compared to a very expensive job interview with incomparable pressure. Imagine the pressure and mental stress of coming down the last few hole with a chance to win your first tour event, that is similar to what many of these players are facing from the first hole and throughout Q-school. Follow along to see the next stars of the tour.

US Open Local Qualifying Into Full Swing Today

The road to Pinehurst starts today all across the country. The local qualifying stage is the first step for most professionals and aspiring amateurs. There are 111 one round local sites across the United States and successful qualifiers will advance to twelve 36 hole sectional qualifiers. Outside of the the two international sectional qualifiers, the largest sites are always Memphis and Ohio since those are the two PGA Tour stops before and after the Monday qualifier. With so many PGA Tour Players and up and coming players, the sectional qualifier are a great place to watch a bit closer than your average tour stop.

Nick Cullen, One Asia Tour, will be playing in the sectional qualifier in Memphis on June 2nd

Two Top-10s and Two Top-25s

This past weeks events yielded solid results for Fraustro, Fricke, Ramsey, and Im. All finishing in the top-25 on their respective tours.

Fraustro and Fricke rounded out top-10 finishes in San Paulo, Brazil on the Web.com Tour. Fraustro finished the week T5 at 17-under and Fricke finished T9 at 15-under. This give them both a good start for the final goal of top-25 on the order of merit, which will ensure them PGA Tour Cards in 2015.

Meanwhile in Morocco, Richie Ramsay was having a come back week and Daniel Im produced a solid finish. Richie's first tournament back from being sidelined for months with injury was a success. A T-11 finish will give him the confidence he needs to have a great 2014 after being a spectator while he was on the road to recovery. Daniel Im with his first full season on the European Tour took home his biggest check with his T-25 finish. He is looking to build on this finish while seeking his first European Tour victory.

Richie's Return

Agadir, Morocco

Richie Ramsey makes his return to the European Tour this week at the Trophee Hassan II event this week in Morocco. His much awaited return comes after months of rehab from injuries. Richie's first two rounds couldn't have been more different.  After carding 16 pars, a birdie, and a single bogie for an even par 72, Richie had quite the roller coaster round in day 2 with only 7 pars. Finishing with a 1-under 71  today after going out it 40 was a nice bounce back for Richie and his confidence. He is hoping to build on that back nine 5-under 31 and have a good weekend push for a solid finish.
